Episode 9 - Momentum Shifting Moments

As leaders one of our hardest tasks is to motivate. We have to trust in our team’s abilities but even more we must manifest to them the faith that we have in their capability. You see when a team is overwhelmed, and perhaps even underperforming or headed in a downward spiral, they may face a seemingly insurmountable task and given the law of inertia feel it to be unreversible. In order to to overcome bad momentum you have to raise above the noise, infuse them with a vision, and help them see themselves on the other side. We must be the voice of encouragement and the voice of direction.

From the the basketball court to the boardroom the best way to help our team be bold, and better than they envisioned, is to provide encouragement and direction. I was lucky to see this principle in action as a third grade basketball player facing a team literally called "Bad News." The victory ice cream that followed was perhaps the sweetest I've ever had. Thank you for listening.
