  • Funnel-Less Bidding

The process of removing traditional constraints from the competitive bid process. These may include but are not limited to down-selecting supplier between the RFI and RFP phases; simplifying cost models to minimize spreadsheet analysis complexity; limiting the number of scenarios included in analysis due to time constraints. One should ask, “if there were no constraints, how would I structure this bid?” when employing funnel-less bidding.

  • Bucket and Dollarize

The process of breaking a deal down into it key components and then assigning a dollar value to each one. For example, what is the financial impact of proposed payment terms versus your preferred position? Ideally you calculate an exact value but nebulous terms (buckets) may include risk of high dollar impact; for example, costs associated with recalls are difficult to calculate hypothetically but the potential is for them to be quite high.

  • Pull vs. Push Sourcing

A pull sourcing process initiates as a reaction to business demand, while a push system initiates production in anticipation of future need. In a pull system, a sourcing activity is triggered when a business stakeholder asks for help with a contract, while in a push system, a sourcing activity is initiated independently based on anticipated needs.

  • Boom!

  • Pet Ducks
